Wyoming Health Insurance (WY)
Wyoming has very strong public health funding at an average of $121 per person, a low incidence of infectious disease at 2.5 cases per 100,000 people and a low infant mortality rate at 5.1 deaths per 1,000. These very strong health statistics are in no small part attributable to the offerings of Wyoming Health Insurance whose programs work hard to make sure that Wyoming stays a healthy place to live.

The Wyoming Health Insurance Pool was created in 1990 by the Wyoming Legislature to provide health insurance coverage to residents of Wyoming who have been denied adequate health insurance from other sources. This plan is specially designed to meet the needs of those individuals who are unable to purchase health insurance for themselves because of existing health problems

There are three different options available to participants in the Wyoming Health Insurance Pool. The Brown plan, the Gold Plan and the Catastrophic Plan. Coverage offered by all three Wyoming Health Insurance Pool plans includes: hospital, surgical, well care, maternity care, prescription drugs, as well as transport and other specialist services.

The out of pocket costs for the Wyoming Health Insurance pool includes deductibles and co-insurance paid by the member. Once the out of pocket maximum payment has been made by the member then the plan covers 100% of the additional “reasonable and customary” charges for the covered services.

The Wyoming Kid Care CHIP is a program that helps families provide health insurance for their children. It is vital for all children to have health insurance to make sure that children have the chance to grow up healthy.

Wyoming Health Insurance Kid Care CHIP offers health insurance coverage for children and teens through age 18 who are uninsured and meet income and eligibility guidelines.

There are currently no enrolment costs or monthly premiums for the Wyoming Health Insurance Kid Care CHIP. Families are required to pay co-payments for certain services. Some services like check-ups and immunizations are free. Co-payments are capped at $200 per family per benefit year.

To assist those people whose Wyoming Health Insurance Medicare doesn’t cover all of their needs Wyoming Health Insurance also offers a Medigap program.

Wyoming's state law gives you the right to return a Wyoming Health Insurance Medigap policy within 30 days after you receive it. This is known as the Free Look Provision. If you have paid the first premium and decide that you do not wish to continue on with the policy, you are entitled to a full refund as long as you return the policy within 30 days after you receive it.

Doctors and suppliers who sign Medicare participation agreements must accept assignment on all Medicare claims. Even if a health care provider does not actively participate in Medicare, he or she may accept the assignment of your Medicare claim. Many physicians or suppliers accept Wyoming Health Insurance Medicare assignments on an individual case basis.

You should clarify that you are indeed properly covered before using any services. Health care providers who take assignment on a Medicare claim agree to accept the Medicare-approved charge. You are not responsible for paying more than the 20 percent of the Medicare-approved charge.

The Wyoming Health Insurance Information Program, or WSHIIP, is a federally funded program. This program has trained volunteer counsellors across Wyoming who are there to assist senior citizens who have issues or questions with their health insurance. Along with Wyoming Health Insurance Medicare Supplement Insurance, these volunteer counsellors can also answer questions about Medicaid, Social Security, Long-Term Care Insurance, and Medicare.

This Wyoming Health Insurance program is free to the citizens of Wyoming. Counselling services are performed on a one-on-one basis, and the information discussed is kept strictly confidential.
