Nebraska Health Insurance (NE)
Nebraska is currently ranked the 13th healthiest state in the United States. This is in part attributable to the fact that Nebraska Health Insurance covers so many of the state’s residents, with special Nebraska Health Insurance programs for all ages.
The children of Nebraska are covered by two different Nebraska Health Insurance programs: the Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) and the Nebraska Medical Assistance Program (also referred to as Medicaid). Together these components of Nebraska Health Insurance are known as the Nebraska Kids Connection.
Nebraska Health Insurance’s Kids Connection provides well patient care for children by helping to prevent diseases, defining and treating problems early, and maintaining good health and development.
Nebraska Health Insurance coverage includes: regular baby checkups and immunizations, immunizations for school-age children, annual checkups for school-age children, including school and sports physicals, regular dental check-ups and eye and ear testing. Nebraska Health Insurance Kids Connection also provides medical care for injuries and illnesses as early as possible. This is essential in treating or correcting health problems.
Your child's eligibility to have Nebraska Health Insurance coverage through Kids Connection is primarily based on your family's income level. Having some other health insurance may not be a blocking factor for getting coverage under Nebraska Health Insurance. Although, some programs under Kids Connection are not available to children who already have health insurance.
For people between the ages of 19 and 65 Nebraska Health Insurance offers the NECHIP program for those individuals and families who are having difficult time finding health insurance coverage. Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Nebraska administer the Nebraska Comprehensive Health Insurance Pool on behalf of the Nebraska Health Insurance.
To qualify to be a part of the Nebraska Health Insurance NECHIP program you have to have been a legal Nebraska resident at least 6 months; and have been turned down for health insurance coverage for medical reasons within the last 6 months from a recognized Nebraska Health Insurance provider; or have been offered health insurance coverage which has a restrictive rider limiting coverage for pre-existing medical conditions; or have been refused coverage that is similar to that available through CHIP or have been offered a comparable coverage at a higher premium within the last 6 months.
Nebraska Health Insurance CHIP policy holders can opt to open a High Deductible Health Plan (HDHP) that can be used with a Health Savings Account (HSA). The HDHP includes a $2,000 deductible for single, in-network coverage and a $4,000 deductible for single, out of network coverage.
Nebraska Health Insurance Medicaid provides health care services to eligible elderly and disabled individuals as well as eligible low-income pregnant women, children and parents. Medicaid provides Nebraska Health Insurance coverage for more than one in every ten residents of Nebraska.
The Nebraska Health Insurance Medicaid programs also runs non-institutional home and community-based services for people who are qualified for Medicaid waivers, the aged, adults and children with disabilities and infants and toddlers with special needs.
The State Unit on Aging works with Nebraska Health Insurance and private service providers to make sure that a comprehensive and coordinated community-based services system works well in helping individuals to live in a setting they choose, and continue to be contributing members of their community. Nebraska’s aging network includes eight Area Agencies on Aging.
Nebraska Health Insurance Medicare offers prescription drug coverage, which is called "Part D," it is available for anyone with Medicare coverage. Enrolment in Part D is optional, but if you decide not to enrol when you first join Nebraska Health Insurance Medicare, you may have to pay a penalty if you join later.
If you join a Medicare prescription drug plan, you are generally required to pay a monthly premium. Other out-of-pocket costs can include co-payments, coinsurance and/or deductible, if any. Some plans also include a gap in coverage, sometimes referred to as the "doughnut hole." Not all drug plans may cover your specific combination of prescriptions, so it is important to compare your options carefully.
