Financial eligibility is determined by the Maine Office of Integrated Access and Support.

Maine Health Insurance Medicare Part A is designed to cover inpatient care in hospitals and skilled nursing facilities. It also covers some of the expenses related to hospice and home health care. The majority of Maine Health Care Medicare subscribers automatically get Part A coverage without having to pay a monthly payment.

Maine Health Insurance Medicare Part B assists with the costs related to medical care like doctors’ services, outpatient care, and certain preventive services. Part B is optional and you would need to pay a monthly premium for this coverage.

Maine Health Insurance Medicare Part C is a set of health plan options that are approved by Medicare and run by private companies. This is a different way of getting Medicare coverage than the more traditional Medicare plans.

Maine Health Insurance Medicare Part C includes Part A and Part B coverage, extra benefits, and may include prescription drug coverage.

Maine Health Insurance Medicare Part D is an outpatient prescription drug plan that is provided by companies approved by Medicare. Part D is optional and you usually pay a monthly premium in ordered to be a part of the program.

If you have a low income, you may be eligible for programs that pay the Part B premium, deductibles and co-insurances and co-payments. You may also be eligible for help with Part D out-of-pocket costs.
