Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) Plans
Unity Health Plans has several insurance options to choose from, including Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) Plans. All HMO members must obtain non-emergency healthcare services within the network of physicians, hospitals and other medical professionals. Each member of the HMO chooses their own Personal Care Physician who they will go to for routine healthcare services, and who will coordinate referrals to any specialty services if needed.
Health Savings Account (HSA) Eligible Plans
Unity Health Insurance also offers Health Savings Account (HSA) Eligible Plans that are to help you save for qualified medical and retiree healthcare costs on a pre-tax basis. Health Savings Account (HSA) Eligible Plans are tax-exempt account that you pay into for use later for qualified medical expenses. You own the money in your HSA and your deposits cannot be taken out, except for specified expenses. All the unused balances from a year are carried over into the following year, and this amount can accumulate over years and be used at retirement to pay for uncovered medical expenses. Also, your HSA can be passed on to a spousal beneficiary tax-free if the holder of the account passes away.
Individual Health Insurance Plans
The Individual Health Insurance Plans are designed for individuals who do not have health insurance through an employer group. Unity Health Insurance offers many different kinds of Individual Health Insurance Plans. The copayment insurance plans let you pay a flat rate for a medical service. The coinsurance plans let you pay a percentage of the costs of medical services or supplies. Deductible plans let you pay a fixed deductible amount before Unity begins to pay for your benefits. The high deductible plans, which are compatible with the HSAs, offer lower monthly premiums with higher deductibles. The preventative care service that is covered under these plans includes touring physicals, lab tests, x-rays and immunizations.
