Founded in 1974, Rocky Mountain Health Plans (RMHP) is a Colorado-cased, not-for-profit health insurance organization. Rocky Mountain Health Plans offers a wide range of health insurance options, including PPO, HMO, share-funded and self-funded medical plans. Rocky Mountain Health Plans provides services to more than 178,536 customers. The members include:
• 4,637 fully-insured employer groups with 66,609 Members
• 179 partially self-funded employer groups with 59,203 Members
• 12,323 individuals
• 23,956 Medicare seniors
• 12,358 Medicaid eligible persons
• 4,027 children under the Child Health Plan Plus program

Rocky Mountain Health Plans has received the highest rating for a health plan of their size (B++ - Very Good) by the A.M. Best Company. In addition, Rocky Mountain Health Plans was rated A- (Excellent Financial Security) by Weiss Ratings, Inc, which is another indication of their financial strength. With this rating, Rocky Mountain Health Plans is in the top 18.8% of the industry, and is amount the elite corps of only 99 health insurance companies that have received a rating of Excellent.
Rocky Mountain Health Plans has managed to remain independent for over 30 years, which is an achievement in an industry where buyouts and takeover are the norm. All decisions are made at the local level in order to protect members rather than catering to the pockets of shareholders.
In 2006, Rocky Mountain Health Plans received the America’s Health Insurance Plans foundation Innovation and Excellence Award in chronic Care for the initiative, Improving Diabetes Outcomes in Mesa County initiative.

The SOLO Health Plans are PPO’s, meaning that you can decide which health care provider you want to see. The SOLO Health Plans give you coverage for office visits, preventive care, screenings, prescription drugs, injuries and accidents, as well as inpatient and outpatient care at hospitals.
The SOLO Select Plans, just three of the total SOLO plans, offer the most comprehensive plans with low deductibles and higher premiums. The SOLO Smart Choice Plans are plans that have a high deductible, but with lower monthly premiums, and they allow you to contribute to a tax-advantage Health Savings Account (HAS) to cover your medical costs. The SOLO Safety Net Plans have the lowest monthly premiums, and will help you in case of serious illness or accidents.
