A Description of Medica Health Plans

Medica Health Insurance offers a variety of Medica Health plans, but these three are the most popular.

The MedicaDirect HSA plan offers high deductible coverage along with a Health Savings Account which lets you save money in a tax-free account with these funds to be used to pay for qualified medical expenses. The member pays lower monthly premiums and enjoys some tax benefits while still receiving prescription savings, preventative care coverage and major medical coverage. Deductibles vary from $1400 to $3500 for individuals and $2800 to $7000 for families. Members may choose either an 80% or 100% coinsurance option.

Another of Medica Health plans is the Medica Direct Value plan. This is a traditional plan which offers many different deductible options that range from $150 to $5000 for individuals and up to three times those amounts for families. Subscribers to this plan have access to the Medica Health Insurance network which features nearly 27,000 providers and nearly 4,000 offices, clinics, and hospitals. Deductibles vary from $150 to $5000 with an 80% coinsurance.

Medica Encore is a plan which is available only to individuals. It is specially designed for those members 50-64 years of age, but it can be used for anyone from 3 months to age 64. This is a high deductible plan which gives immediate coverage for preventative care. The deductibles can range from $4000 to $9000 with 100% coinsurance once the deductible has been met.
