Important Information about KPS Health Plan

For over 60 years, KPS has offered its customers outstanding service and quality, affordable health care. KPS was founded in 1946 by physicians from the Kitsap Medical Society. It offers a vast array of plan options for families, individuals, small and large groups, school districts, federal employees, and other associations in the state of Washington.

KPS members have access to a vast KPS Participating Provider Network, including Providence, First Choice Health, and MultiPlan networks. No referrals are required, although the Home Choice plan does have limitations. Since KPS is a smaller health insurance provider (its membership numbers in the thousands, not the hundreds of thousands) it prides itself on providing personalized, caring service to its members. When someone calls customer service, they speak with a local, friendly representative. KPS offers personal service to all of its members- this means no pre-recorded answers, no long hold times, and no long and confusing menu options for coverage. That’s the KPS difference!
Since KPS is a smaller, regional health insurance provider, they are able to find creative and innovative ways to provide excellent benefits to their subscribers and keep the price competitive.

An Overview of LifeWise Health Plans

Members have a choice of three LifeWise Health Plans and they all can be customized to suit a person’s individual needs and circumstances. One plan is the Wise Essentials plan which matches great value with excellent coverage. Another is the WiseChoices plan which offers more comprehensive coverage. And the third is the tax-advantaged WiseSavings plan. All of these plans provide benefits and coverage that suit your lifestyle and personal needs. They also all provide preventative care benefits. Preventative screenings include cancer screenings, heart and vascular screenings, metabolic, nutrition and endocrine screenings, and infectious disease screenings. Preventative exams are also covered and these include, women’s annual examinations, routine physicals, specialized physicals for school, employment, or sports, and preventative immunizations.

If you want low monthly premiums and a plan that offers basic, affordable coverage, then the WiseEssentials plan is a perfect choice. Deductibles range from $1500 to $7500 with 25% coinsurance. You can purchase up to a 30 day supply of generic drugs for $20.

The broadest coverage is offered through the WiseChoices plan and it also provides different deductible and copay options. These range from $500 to $5000 with a coinsurance of 20%. The per visit copay applies to alternative care, preventative exams and screenings and office visits. Members can also add vision care and accident benefits to their personal policy.

The WiseSavings plan is a high deductible health plan which works in conjunction with an HSA (Health Savings Account). This plan allows the member to establish an account with a financial institution and use these funds to pay for qualified medical expenses throughout the year. These funds may be tax-free if they are used for legitimate medical expenses. The deductibles are $3000 for an individual and $6000 for a family with a 20% coinsurance.
